Biodegradable Bioplastics
State Science Fair Project
I created biodegradable bioplastics for my science fair project. I measured their durability to determine if these plastics could replace plastics used today. I advanced through the school and district levels with a superior rating. At the state level, I earned a superior rating and won the first place Governor's Award for Excellence in Environmental Protection Research.
P&G Robotics Internship
Intelligent Automation Collaborative
I was invited to participate in the pilot of the Intelligent Automation Collaborative by a graduating senior that I knew through the robotics program at school. I worked primarily on the hardware of the robot through CAD and building. I also gained a lot of valuable experience from working in a business setting.
FIRST Tech Challenge
Robotics Competition
Throughout this season of FTC, I was one of the leaders of my team, Juniper Robotics. I worked to make sure that everyone on the team had an opportunity to contribute to the team. We won the design award at the Ohio State competition for the aesthetics of our robot. We also won the think award at the Canada Cup(a competition with teams from four different countries) for our engineering portfolio, which is a 15-page written summary of our robot design process.
Biology Club
School Club
I learned a lot about the importance of environmental conservation in biology club. I was able to listen to many guest speakers in our club meeting including a conservation biologist. Biology club also allowed me to do public service in my community. I participated in a honeysuckle pull at a local nature center, and I helped to build a garden at our school. Additionally, I led an effort to create collages of nature pictures to sell and raise money for the biology club.
Sports & other clubs
School Activities
I played singles on the JV tennis team this year. I had a lot of fun while working hard to improve throughout the season. I got runner-up at our end of season competition.
While I was unable to participate in track for most of the season due to injury, I beat my personal best high jump height at the meet in which I was able to compete.
I also did academic quiz team and Chinese Club this year.
